At this canon point, Kaladin has experienced new losses that have pushed him further into emotional instability. He's struggling actively with depression and PTSD, and his relationships are being damaged by it. While he assisted in bringing about the death of Amaram, an old enemy who branded him a slave, he also ran into an old friend, Moash, who betrayed him in the previous books.
With help, however, he's ensured the safety of his parents, Lirin and Hesina, and his little brother, Oroden. This will help him assist LILITH more effectively, though he'll suffer from bouts of malaise without external assistance from friends. If therapy is introduced, he might consider discussing his hang-ups with the doctors on base.
Kaladin has the same powers (he's just more adept with them), with one exception:
As a Knight Radiant, he can promote people to "squires," effectively sharing his power with them when they're close enough friends/comrades. I'll nerf this to one person at a time and make it a temporary state, as he already has extremely limited resources (only so many spheres to draw Stormlight from, etc.) and won't want to share them. I doubt this use of his power will come up oftenβif at all. It'd solely be for CR-building purposes... or funny shit.
